About my work

How can one truly capture a person? It’s a question that calls for reflection. Portraying a face may seem straightforward, but to convey a character, a personality, and fragments of a life is something else entirely. It cannot be contained in a single image, yet through small cracks in the social façade, glimpses of truth can seep through and become visible from within, frozen in a single moment. For me, the image always begins with a conversation, sometimes a long one, and with the surrounding context. The unique and the distinct can then emerge from the shadows, rising above deliberate posing.

Why black and white? When colour, so closely bound to the surface, is removed, our perception shifts and the scene takes on greater intensity. What remains is a distilled essence. Form, texture, line and contrast emerge, freed from the distraction of colour. Light and shadow become the sole instruments. When these elements align, they stir vivid emotions, at least within me. I hope you feel the same.
